Geri Summers, Senior Program Coordinator

Profile

Geri Summers holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Florida International University. She has been working in the field of HIV since 1997. Before joining the HIV Prevention CPSDI team, she directed programs in New York and Kansas that served the following populations:

  • HIV infected/affected
  • men having sex with men
  • HIV+ mothers with HIV+ children
  • drug addicted persons
  • homeless
  • dually diagnosed persons
  • young people in college

Statewide Technical Assistance

Summers is a Senior Program Coordinator on the HIV Prevention CPSDI team providing the following types of technical assistance for Division of HIV/AIDS Services grantees:

  • program development
  • program evaluation
  • quality assurance planning
  • needs assessment (including conducting focus groups)
  • EBI support including:
    • coordinating quarterly meetings
    • maintaining a web based clearinghouse of materials
    • coordinating a listserv
    • providing fidelity monitoring visits

Statewide Training

Summers provides training in Healthy Relationships curriculum (from Centers for Disease Control's EBIs). She also provides training in Effective Facilitation Skills, Motivational Interviewing, Stigma, Holistic Health Recovery Program, and serves as an evaluator of "teach backs" for the SISTA EBI curriculum for the state.
